It has been about 100 years since the end of the series. Yusuke's lived a happy life with Keiko and grown old. Kurama and Hiei have gone about their business, Kuwabara eventually growing old and still tight buddies with the former spirit detective. Yukina's done her thing, and Koenma/Botan still do their jobs up in Spirit World. Genkai however, has certainly long since passed away and her temple area used as a haven for demons like Yukina who need a place to stay.
Spirit World has also modified it's doings a little bit. With all the spiritual and demonic activity that has plagued the city for so long, things are too much for just one Spirit Detective to handle. Koenma now keeps lists of the multiple Spirit Detectives and their pairings. They actually get vacations once in a while this time around.
The Demon World has also seen some changes. It would seem that a new power struggle has arisen, with younger demons trying to overthrow the Old Kings and take their places in control. These new, younger sprites, seem to have some grudge against the human world...
